Walton and Frinton RNLI Lifeboat Invitation Meeting
Sunday 30th December 2018
The damp foggy start to Sunday’s weather certainly did little to deter 16 Club members plus two guests meeting for the short walk to the Walton Pier Lifeboat station where our Walton Lifeboat crew’s were joined by their colleagues from the Harwich and Clacton on Sea RNLI stations for a Christmas Celebration meeting.
It was a magnificent display of their skills with their powered “Sail Past” at the Pier Head in formation “Echelon”. This was enjoyed by the many local Lifeboat supporters who also joined us for the occasion.
After mooring lifeboats at the station it was obvious the camaraderie between the crews greetings and I understand that Cox’s Trevor was doing a great job as Catering Manager for the shore party. It was nice to see them relaxed and enjoying their day, our thanks to all crews for a splendid Sunday mornings event.
On returning to the Club house we were joined by family and friends for lunch and as always Tina and Peter’s teams ensured us of a very successful conclusion to our day’s events.
May I take this opportunity to mention that we start our new season of Sunday Club walks with Mike and Helen Stokoe kindly arranging January’s on the 27th, meeting at the Abberton Reservoir at 10.15hrs. Helen has organised a hot lunch for us but this must be booked prior to the day. Full details/ sign up sheet is available by the Club Notice board.
Regards and wishing a very Happy New year to all members.
