March

4th

Sunday

Amble – Harwich

(With tour of LV18)

10:30

The March ramble will include a visit to the LV 18 which is moored off Harwich Pier. It is the last example of a manned Trinity House light vessel in its original unaltered condition to come off station. It was used as a pirate radio station in the 1980’s, and also used in the film “The Boat that Rocked”. It is now owned by the Pharos Trust which is a charity set up to look after the ship. Tony O’Neill, together with his volunteers, will be showing us around and this may include having a look in the engine rooms. There is a small charge of £2 per head.

Meet in Harbour Crescent, Harwich (there will be a map on the notice board in the Club,) just before 10.30 a.m. and we can walk to the LV18. Following the visit to the ship we can then walk back along the sea front to the Cliff Hotel for lunch which will be between 1pm-1.30pm. If we have time on our hands we can walk a bit further.

Menu

Roast beef               - £7.70

Fisherman’s pie     - £8.50

Ham, eggs, chips  - £7.95

Numbers are required by Sunday, 26th February. There will be a list up on the Club notice board, together with a menu choice shortly. Please let me know if you intend joining the tour either via the list, by phone (01255 243829) or email, and if you require a meal indicate your meal preference.
